Hello and Welcome To My Blog,
It will be here that I will share my
Quilting and Sewing Projects, Thoughts, Tips, Quilt Alongs, and Tutorials and
of Course My Love of Gardening.
I've been inspired by so many wonderful people that
have shared their creativity and ideas through their blogs that I decided this would
be a great way for me to express my journey as a quilter and as a general crafter.
Where did my
journey, my passion for the textile arts begin? I began sewing as a young girl under
the guidance of my Grandmother and then later my Home Economics Teacher. I did lots
of sewing for myself and for my family as a young Mother and Wife. I have even
made store samples for Hancock’s and JoAnn Fabrics as well as I have made Halloween
costumes and bags, formal attire for myself and others. I have to thank my Grandmother
for encouraging me to sew; I would sit at her side or on the floor next to her and
watch in amazement as to the way her hands would move across the fabric while she
sewed for us. My Grandmother would
always send me back home after the summers with my loving Grandma-made gifts—DRESSES,
oh my I remember how beautiful my dresses were and she most definitely had an infinity
for lace and ruffles. So, I was this little girl always in lace, ruffles and
baby doll socks with my white or black patent shiny leather shoes.
I miss you so much Grandma, I Love You. Whoo, Ok,
I’m trying…Ok, I am back on track, and I would watch her make many dresses for
myself and my Auntie, how beautiful and proud she looked while sitting at the sewing
machine. My Grandmother would make some of the most beautiful dresses and home
decor items, like pillows and oven mitts, and doilies and so much more. My
Grandmother provided me with so much encouragement (that I began my first solo sewing
projects which were baby outfits for my little ones). I want to thank all of my
sewing/quilting friends who provided me with their encouragement and thoughtful
praises.
I have many ideas, projects, thoughts, tips and
tutorials to share for my future posts. Let us gather our fabrics, books and tools and
get ready to get some sewing done today.
I ask that you be patient with me as I am still learning about the world of blogging, I would also like to give a big (Thank You) to my wonderful husband who has been showing me how blogging and other social media work!
I have waited with anticipation to get started on my
quilting journey,
I will post as often as I can
between projects.
Just a quick peek into my future
projects…
